Because of the movements of the culture, the Shawiya language is gaining ground. It has many of the characteristics of Algerian Arabri, French and English, and has been influenced by those in recent years, since those languages are predominate in the area. Another thing that is special about the language is that the language goes by a few different names; while it can be spelt like Shawiya it can also be spelt like Chaouïa. This is a language that will go by either name, the second name and the spelling are where anyone can see that the language has been influenced by France.
